Open Day - Sat 20th April 2024
We are holding one of our ever popular Open Days on Sat 20th April. These Open Days are a great way to come and give tennis a try, to see whether you would like to start playing regularly and to find out what the Club has to offer you.
We'll provide all the rackets and balls, if you don't have your own. So all you need to bring is some comfy clothes, trainers and a smile on your face!

We are a friendly club with a mission to provide accessible tennis in the local community. The Club is situated in Borrowash with easy links to the A52, so it is also well placed for anyone living or working in Derby or Nottingham who would like to play.
We are a well established Club with 5 outdoor carpet courts. There are a range of opportunities for all ages and abilities to play tennis, from competitive play in league matches, to being able to join in some fun social sessions.
Our coaching programme ranges from junior group coaching to private lessons and organised adult training.

The History of the Club
Ockbrook & Borrowash Tennis Club has been a local tennis club for over 100 years, having been formed back in 1919 to provide a recreation facility for soldiers arriving back from the 1914-1918 Great War. Like most tennis clubs of that time, the surface that these war time heros played on back then was grass. Over more recent years, the club has been transitioned from grass to provide more hard wearing surfaces, so that play can be enjoyed all year round and through all types of weather conditions.
The Current Day
The Club Mission Statement is 'To offer a good standard of tennis facilities and coaching services to the local community in which we are situated. Looking to develop and encourage players of all ages, genders and abilities'.
We provide Adult & Junior tennis to the local community and we now have more than 270 members (adults and juniors) of mixed playing ability. We have 2 Men's, 2 Ladies and 2 Mixed teams playing in the Derby Area Summer & Winter Leagues, 1 Men's, 1 Ladies and 1 Mixed team playing in the Nottinghamshire Winter League. We also have a range of Junior teams who play competitively in both Summer and Winter months.
The Club offers Junior Coaching with our Head Coach, James Middleton every Saturday 9am-1pm and on Sunday’s 9am-1pm with Gary Edwards.
Visitors are welcome and can book a court via the Booking page. The cost for a court is £5.00 per half hour (min 1 hour). However, visits are restricted to 3 per year to be fair to the Members.
We have recently refurbished two of our delapidated courts thanks to several grants, with the biggest supporter being Derbyshire County Council, for which we are extremely grateful. Without their support this wouldn't have been possible.
The Future
We are currently working with the immediate neighbours on our long term aim of having permanent Floodlights installed, so that player development and opportunity can continue during the Winter months in the same way that other Club's benefit. We are hopeful that the immediate neighbours and Erewash Borough Council will support this, so that our local Community isn't disadvantaged and we can offer a venue with first class facilities for all of our residents to enjoy.
